Bandai Namco has begun rolling out a pre-release update for FromSoftware’s acclaimed new action RPG, Elden Ring.

Elden Ring looks set to be a huge success, having received near-universal acclaim from critics. Even this FromSoftware sceptic is in danger of being won over by the game’s elaborate and intricate world, accessible design, and obscure narrative.

Ahead of the Elden Ring‘s full release on Friday, publisher Bandai Namco has posted details of the game’s version 1.02 update. The patch improves player controls – although we’re not exactly sure how – as well as various performance enhancements and bug fixes. It’s a refreshingly small list for such an ambitious game.

Elden Ring – Patch Notes Version 1.02

  • Improved player controls
  • Addition and adjustment of BGM
  • Text adjustments
  • Balance adjustments
  • NPC event fixes and adjustments
  • Fixed frame rate drops under certain conditions
  • Fixed text bug in some languages
  • Fixed a bug that prevented the Xbox wireless headset from working properly

In the patch notes, Bandai Namco also adds that the planned addition of ray tracing to the game will be detailed in a future announcement.

Elden Ring is now available to purchase and preload on Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
