Return to Vvardenfell with The Elder Scrolls Online Morrowind update, heading to Tamriel in summer 2017.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited didn’t feature in our list of the best Elder Scrolls games, because it’s not a main series entry. That doesn’t mean it’s worse than Redguard or Battlespire – hint: it’s not, they’re the absolute worst – but it’s just not comparable with the likes of Skyrim and Morrowind.

Ah, well, about that last point: Bethesda have confirmed that The Elder Scrolls Online Morrowind update is in the works and will be released for PC, Mac, PS4 and Xbox One on June 6, 2017.

So what’s included in The Elder Scrolls Online Morrowind update?

The addition of Vvardenfell makes it the largest zone added to The Elder Scrolls Online since launch, and is basically the same footprint as the original Morrowind, including all locations and points of interest from the third main series title. The events of The Elder Scrolls Online Morrowind update actually take place before the events of The Elder Scrolls III, so in a strange way, you’ll be contributing to the history you’ll already have had heard about in your past (but Tamriel’s future).

Confused? So are we.

There’s also a new character class in The Elder Scrolls Online Morrowind update – The Warden. It’s the first new class since the launch of the game and, well, we don’t know much about it really. Oh, except that the player can have a War Bear – far more dangerous than your average bear – as an ally. There’s also a new PvP mode called Battlegrounds, which will apparently bring intense 4v4v4 battles in arena-like environments, in Morrowind’s Ashlands region.
