Dark Light

Build a vast metropolis or develop a local farming business in the two free games coming to PlayStation Plus in May 2020.

With the outside world still off-limits for many, the two titles coming to PlayStation Plus in May give players a chance to escape – and create – some imaginary but familiar worlds.

First up is Colossal Order’s colossally successful city-building simulation, Cities: Skyline. The PC hit came to PlayStation 4 in 2017 and has supplanted the Sim City franchise as the genre’s standard bearer. In our review, we said the game updates a classic design template with “minimum fuss and considerable style.” The base game is free to download for PS Plus subscribers, and there’s a wealth of DLC available to enhance and expand the experience.

If you want to create something smaller and more sustainable, Farming Simulator 19 from Giants Software should provide the experience you’re looking for. The game features more than 300 licenced vehicles and machines to maintain, and a huge selection of crops and livestock to nurture. It’s hard work, but it’s strangely therapeutic.

May’s free PS Plus games are available to download from May 5 – June 1, 2020.
