Starting today, players can unlock a free Game Boy theme for Tetris 99 on Nintendo Switch.
The third Tetris 99 online event is now live and offers a rather nice reward for long time Nintendo fans.
Participants who can accumulate 100 points during the event will receive a special Game Boy skin. The theme is inspired by the famously dingy green screen of Nintendo’s handheld console, first released in 1989.
To take part, you just need to play the game online. Points are awarded depending on your final position, with 100 points for first place, running down to 1 point for placing between 91st and 99th.
At worst, players will have to grind out 100 matches to receive the skin, which also includes authentic music and sound effects from the Game Boy edition of Tetris.
The Maximus Cup/Grand Prix online event runs through 11:59pm PT on May 19, 2019. (In the UK that’s 7.59am on May 20, 2019)
