CD Projekt Red has announced that Gwent: The Witcher Card Game will be coming to smartphones in 2019.
The digital CCG – which was spun-off from the studio’s hit 2015 role-playing game – will first come to iOS devices, with an Android release to follow. An exact release date has not been confirmed.
The game’s director, Jason Slama, says
“We’ve been preparing long and hard to adapt Gwent to smartphones. Beautiful visuals aside, we’ve tailored much of our technology, including GOG Galaxy which powers Gwent’s multiplayer, to support mobile devices. I think our vision for bringing Gwent to smartphones combines the best we have to offer both in terms of graphics and gameplay. I can’t wait to share more details on the subject with you later this year.”
In the meantime the game’s first major expansion, Crimson Curse, is released tomorrow for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Crimson Curse adds five new leader characters, including some never seen before in The Witcher series. Players who pre-order the expansion before release – and the clock is ticking – will get access to 40 Crimson Curse Kegs at a special discounted price, the Blood Armour legendary leader skin for Unseen Elder, and an animated Crimson Curse cardback.
