Sega has confirmed the Western release date for Yakuza-series spin-off, Judgment.
Ryu ga Gotoku Studio’s upcoming tale of crime and corruption will be released exclusively for the PlayStation 4 on June 25, 2019.
Digital pre-orders for Judgment will open on the PlayStation Store this Friday, and will grant access to the full game on June 21, four days ahead of its official release. Pre-order customers will also receive a free PlayStation 4 theme.
Judgment returns to the seedy Tokyo district of Kamurocho, previously featured in the studio’s Yakuza series. Players take on the role of Takayuki Yagami, ex-defence attorney who becomes a private investigator on the trail of a serial killer. According to Sega’s press release, the game will see players “search for clues, collect evidence, track down criminals, and bust some heads.” Busting heads sounds fun, that’s for sure.
The physical edition of the game will include reversible box art featuring the original Japanese cover illustration, and Ryu ga Gotoku Studio sticker.
The Western release of Judgment also includes both the original Japanese audio – performed by the likes of Takuya Kimura and Masaharu Kaito – as well as a new English dub.
Here’s a quartet of new English-language screenshots for you to judge.

Judgment was first released in Japan late last year where it was met with strong sales and critical acclaim. Famitsu scored the game an impressive 37 out of 40.
