NIS America is releasing a lengthy playable demo for tactical RPG bundle Langrisser I & II on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

Masaya Games’ RPG series has been generally been the preserve of players in Japan, with only the first entry receiving a Western release, as Warsong on Sega Genesis. Nonetheless, there is a vibrant fan-community in the West, which is probably why NIS America is bringing the Langrisser I & II remasters to our shores with a great deal of pomp and ceremony.

The two games are packed with improvements, including high-definition graphics, re-orchestrated music, English localisation, and a whole new character, complete with story choices. You can also switch between either classic or remastered art-styles. Plus, four collections of music from the original versions will be available in a Legacy BGM DLC pack.

Both games are heading to PC, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 as part of a double-pack next month. NIS America has also confirmed they will get free console demos on February 20, available from the PlayStation Store and Nintendo eShop.

The demo will let players experience Chapters 1-3 of Langrisser I and Chapters 4-6 of Langrisser II. It will also gift an extra 5,000 gold and 2 CP to players who pick up the full game.

The franchise’s last two games were 2015’s poorly received Nintendo 3DS effort, Langrisser Re:Incarnation Tensei, and 2018’s Langrisser Mobile. Neither set the world alight, but if the gameplay on these remakes holds up, the series could find a whole new audience.

Langrisser I & II is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch on March 10 in North America, March 13 in Europe, and March 20 in Oceania.
