May’s Xbox Games with Gold lineup is moderately exciting

Microsoft has revealed the four (pretty decent) games coming to Xbox Games with Gold in April 2020.

Microsoft has announced the four games coming to Xbox Games with Gold in May 2020.

Xbox Games with Gold is the gift that keeps on giving, as long as you remain subscribed to Xbox Live Gold, and as long as you don’t mind the occasional below-average game.

May’s lineup of “freebies” includes V-Rally 4, the middle-of-road racing game from Kylotonn. It received lukewarm reviews on release in September 2018 with critics saying that it felt old fashioned in the age of Forza and Dirt. Kylotonn is a studio to watch, however. Last year’s WRC 8 was a considerable improvement.

Next is Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr, the rambunctious action RPG from NeocoreGames. We don’t know much about the game, but we assume you get to be an inquisitor and a martyr. Happy days in the Caligari Sector.

May’s Xbox 360 titles – which are also playable on Xbox One – are arcade sports game Sensible World of Soccer, and the second game from original franchise of minion mayhem, Overlord II.

May’s Xbox Games with Gold titles are available to download and keep during the following dates.

Xbox Games With Gold – May 2020

Xbox One

  • V-Rally 4 – May 1 – 31, 2020
  • Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr – May 16 – June 15, 2020

Xbox 360 and Xbox One

  • Sensible World of Soccer – May 1 – 15, 2020
  • Overlord II – May 16 – 31, 2020

Meanwhile, two of last month’s free Xbox games –  Project Cars 2 and Toybox Turbos –  remain available to download until Thursday. The Knights of Pen and Paper Bundle is available until May 15, 2020.

We have a favour to ask

Thumbsticks has a couple of main aims. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won't, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. And right now, with the current state of online publishing? It's tough! We hate to ask, but if you want us to continue writing what others won't, or to keep covering weird indie games, or to be able to give opportunities to new writers – and only if you can afford it – then please consider supporting us on Patreon.
