The Switch’s library of NES games continues to grow with three more titles coming to Nintendo Switch Online on Wednesday.

First up is Donkey Kong Jr., the NES version of the Shigeru Miyamoto-designed 1982 arcade game. It’s a tricky but enjoyable game that many players prefer to the original. Donkey Kong Jr., is also notable for featuring Mario in the role of antagonist, the only time this would ever happen.

VS. Excitebike is an enhanced version of the Excitebike that was originally released on the Famicom Disk System in Japan. The game features three modes: Original Excite, VS Excite, and VS Edit. VS Excite supports multiplayer, and VS edit lets players create up to four of their own tracks to race on.

Finally, Clu Clu Land is an action puzzle game from Nintendo R&D1. It’s another tricky game that has its moments but is ultimately rather forgettable.

We hate to ask, but...

Thumbsticks has a couple of goals. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won't, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. And right now, with the current state of online publishing? It's tough to meet those goals! We hate to ask, but if you want us to continue writing what others won't, or to keep covering weird indie games, or to be able to give opportunities to new writers – and only if you can afford it – then please consider supporting us on Patreon.
