This week’s new Nintendo Switch releases include Sol Cresta, Puzzle & Dragons, and The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask.
The Puzzle & Dragons series has never quite been the phenomenon in the West that it is in Japan. The Nintendo 3DS edition, for example, required assistance from Super Mario to drum up interest.
Puzzle & Dragons Nintendo Switch Edition is a faithful adaptation of the original game and is fully playable in docked and handheld modes. It’s a fun puzzler and available at a reasonable price, although it does feature microtransactions.
Sol Cresta is the first entry in PlatinumGames’ Neo-Classic Arcade series. The vertically scrolling sci-fi shoot ’em up began as an April Fools joke in 2020 – pitched as a follow-up to the classic Moon Cresta and Terra Cresta – before being confirmed as a real game last year. Quality vertically shmups are in short supply these days, so we hope Sol Cresta lives up to the franchise’s heritage.
Other Nintendo Switch releases include Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream and Never Alone Arctic Collection. Nintendo 64 classic The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask will also be available to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers.
