New Xbox Video Game Releases

Alba: A Wildlife Adventure and Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis are among next week’s lineup of new Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S releases.

Sega’s Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis gets a full release following a series of betas. The free-to-play online action RPG is a significant overhaul of Phantasy Star Online 2, so much so that it could be pitched as the franchise’s third numbered entry with little fuss. Player feedback has been broadly positive so far.

Alba: A Wildlife Adventure is an open-world adventure set on a Mediterranean island from Ustwo Games, creators of Monument Valley. It’s another fine effort, with an exquisite sense of place, the visual panache you’d expect from the studio, and a strong, heartwarming message.

Other new Xbox releases include medieval hack and slash game Chivalry 2 and the offbeat dating simulation, Later Daters.

Here’s the full lineup of confirmed new Xbox digital game store releases. We’ll update this list throughout the week with any late additions.

We hate to ask, but...

Thumbsticks has a couple of goals. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won't, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. And right now, with the current state of online publishing? It's tough to meet those goals! We hate to ask, but if you want us to continue writing what others won't, or to keep covering weird indie games, or to be able to give opportunities to new writers – and only if you can afford it – then please consider supporting us on Patreon.
