Nintendo eShop Releases

A Night in the Woods and the original SteamWorld Dig lead this week’s lineup of eShop releases for the Nintendo Switch, 3DS and Wii U.

Infinite Fall’s wonderful adventure game, A Night in the Woods, comes to Nintendo Switch this week. The Switch edition includes the Weird Autumn content pack, and runs at a full 60fps 1080p when docked, and at 720p in handheld mode.

This week also sees a Switch release for Image & Form’s SteamWorld Dig. Originally a hit on 3DS – before coming to other consoles – the game is full to the brim with smart design and addictive gameplay. That being said, if you haven’t played its sequel, SteamWorld Dig 2, head there first. It’s an even better game, and one of the best 2D platformers I’ve played in years.

Another older game released on Switch this week is Shiftlings – Enhanced Edition. RockPocket’s puzzle platformer has previously been released on PC and PS4, but its optional couch co-op mode makes it a natural fit for two joy-cons.

At the cheaper end of this week’s releases is Mad Carnage, a new strategy game from QubicGames created in collaboration with sci-fi novelist, Evan Currie.

Here is the full Nintendo eShop release list.

We hate to ask, but...

Thumbsticks has a couple of goals. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won't, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. And right now, with the current state of online publishing? It's tough to meet those goals! We hate to ask, but if you want us to continue writing what others won't, or to keep covering weird indie games, or to be able to give opportunities to new writers – and only if you can afford it – then please consider supporting us on Patreon.
