The Nintendo Switch has been the best-selling video game console in Canada for a “record-breaking” 25 consecutive months.
Data from The NPD Group has confirmed some impressive sales numbers for the Nintendo Switch in Canada. The Switch and Switch Lite sold a combined total of 148,000 units in November, taking it to 790,000 units sold in 2020 so far. That’s an increase of 162,000 units compared to the same period in 2019.
Dominic Gross, general manager of Nintendo of Canada, isn’t cross at all. In a press statement, he said:
“We are pleased that fans of all ages throughout Canada are playing Nintendo Switch and enjoying the versatility of the system. Whether it is playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe together or connecting online with friends and family to share island creations in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons game, Nintendo Switch offers something for everyone and we hope it creates many happy memories this holiday season and beyond.”
The NPD Group confirmed last week that the Switch also sold 1.3 million units in the US in November, taking it to 6.92 million systems sold in the country year-to-date.
With the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in short supply, it’s very likely that Nintendo’s console will continue impressive its run in December.
