Shin Megami Tensei V and some classic Grand Theft Auto games headline this week’s lineup of new Nintendo Switch eShop releases.
It remains to be seen if the popularity of the Nintendo Switch will propel Shin Megami Tensei V to a new, larger audience. Nonetheless, fans of this storied RPG franchise have plenty to look forward to. A host of positive reviews highlight a thoughtful mix of old and new gameplay mechanics, stunning visuals, and an impressive roster of foes. Fortunately, some occasional performance issues don’t appear to detract from the experience.
Elsewhere, there’s the return of more classics from the 00s. First is a port Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic from Aspyr Media. Bioware’s RPG remains one of the best Star Wars games ever made, and it should be another good fit for Nintendo’s console. Aspyr previously ported Republic Commando and Episode 1: Racer with impressive results.
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition brings together GTA III, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas into a new package featuring overhauled visuals and improved gameplay mechanics.
Other new Nintendo Switch releases include Joojee’s Journey, Epic Chef, and Mercenaries Rebirth: Call of the Wild Lynx. We’ll keep this page updated throughout the week with any late additions.
