November’s Xbox Games with Gold are completely unremarkable

Microsoft confirms the Xbox Games with Gold lineup for November 2020.

Microsoft confirms the Xbox Games with Gold lineup for November 2020.

Let’s face it, Microsoft’s attention is firmly on Xbox Game Pass these days. That’s the subscription that matters, and that’s the service where all the great games are. Meanwhile, Xbox Live Gold trundles along offering online play and a clutch of freebies each month. And those free games are increasingly uninspiring.

Whereas as November’s PlayStation Plus lineup features Hollow Knight and Bugsnax, the month’s Xbox Games with Gold titles aren’t likely to set your pulse racing.

That’s not to say they are bad games. Of November’s Xbox One titles, Aragami: Shadow Edition is a fine assassin stealth adventure, and Swimsanity! is a vibrant 2D multiplayer shooter. The back compat games aren’t bad either. Full Spectrum Warrior is, if not a minor classic, certainly a noteworthy shooter from the OG Xbox era, and Lego Indiana Jones is a funny reworking of the classic movie franchise.

Still, free games are games, and if you are lucky enough to have pre-ordered an Xbox Series X or S, you’ll be able to play these titles on your next-gen system also.

The latest Games with Gold titles will be available to download and keep for Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members from the following dates.

Xbox Games With Gold – November 2020

Xbox One

  • Aragami: Shadow Edition – November 1 – 30
  • Swimsanity! – November 16 – December 15

Back Compat Titles

  • Full Spectrum Warrior – November 1 – 15
  • Lego Indiana Jones – November 16 to 30

Of last month’s games, Maid of Sker remains free until November 15. Costume Quest and Slayaway Camp: Butcher’s Cut are available until tomorrow.

We hate to ask

Thumbsticks has a couple of main aims. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won't, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. But it's difficult to make ends meet in online publishing at the moment, so if you'd like to help us continue our work, you could always buy the team a cup of coffee.
