The soundtrack to the classic 1990 SNES game ActRaiser is getting a gorgeous new release on vinyl and CD.

Yuzo Koshiro’s score for ActRaiser – which is unquestionably one of the finest soundtracks of the 16-bit era – is getting a new CD and vinyl release from Wayô Records. ActRaiser Original Soundtrack & Symphonic Suite features the full score, some previously unheard compositions, and a symphonic suite performance recorded at the 2018 Ancient Festival.

The release also features new illustrations from artist Ayano Koshiro, and the first 250 copies of the 2xLP vinyl edition will be signed by Yuzo Koshiro.

Speaking about the release, Wayô Records producer Jonathan Khersis says:

ActRaiser was released 30 years ago and remains an intemporal classic. The game was a true revolution thanks to its amazing soundtrack that showed an impressive use of the Super Famicom sound chip. 30 years later, it is still acclaimed as one of Koshiro’s most renowned works. To celebrate this anniversary, we have summoned the ‘Master,’ and he’s back with divine announcements!”

The soundtrack is now available for pre-order via the Wayô Records store and will ship in early 2021.

If you haven’t heard the music from ActRaiser before, pop in some earbuds, whack up the volume, and enjoy…

We hate to ask, but...

Thumbsticks has a couple of goals. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won't, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. And right now, with the current state of online publishing? It's tough to meet those goals! We hate to ask, but if you want us to continue writing what others won't, or to keep covering weird indie games, or to be able to give opportunities to new writers – and only if you can afford it – then please consider supporting us on Patreon.
