Xbox One - Free Play Days

Starting today, three more excellent games are free to play on Xbox One for a limited time.

The Xbox One Free Play Days have quietly become another pillar of Microsoft’s raft of consumer-friendly initiatives. Each week, a small selection of – usually top-notch – games are free to play for four days. This week’s lineup is no different.

First up is For Honor. Ubisoft’s ‘art of battle’ game has also quietly gone about its business since its launch in 2017. A steady stream of refinements and updates has resulted in a well-supported and distinctive combat game that remains worth playing.

Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, meanwhile, mixes combat and diplomacy on a global scale. It’s a top tier turn-based strategy game that is complex yet accessible.

Finally, Yakuza Kiwami is a ground-up remake of the very first game in Sega’s cult crime series. We liked the game when we reviewed it on PS4, saying: “Sega has crafted a haven for gaming traditionalism: an embrace of the gap between play and story, a love of the excess and quirks of the medium, and an unapologetic strut that recalls its halcyon days.”

All three titles are free to play for Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members from today until the stroke of midnight on July 26, 2020.

The only downside is that one weekend isn’t enough time to play them all in full. To that end, here are details of some timely discounts. All progress and earned achievements will carry over.
