This week’s list of new PlayStation 4 releases includes Spelunky 2, and that’s about all you need to know.
The long-awaited Spelunky 2 is the undoubted highlight from this week’s crop of new PS4 games. The first appraisal comes in the latest issue of Edge magazine. The nine-out-of-ten review describes Derek Yu’s sequel as “a machine for generating surprise.” If it’s as good as we hope, we’d quite happily see all other games delayed into next year.
Also promising is Pacer, the new future racer from R8 Games. In our preview, Tom said it plays like a dream and is “eye-shrivellingly quick”. (That’s a good thing.)
We’re not so enthusiastic about WWE 2K Battlegrounds, which has eye-shrivellingly disgusting visuals and looks pretty terrible from top to bottom.
Finally, instead of a full new game, the current edition of Konami’s eFootball PES is getting a new season update for 2020/21. Frankly, it’s something we’d like to see the FIFA series adopt.
Other new PSN games include Gorsd, Crysis Remastered, and Commandos 2 HD Remaster.
We’ll update this article throughout the week with news of any late additions. Here are the new PS4 releases confirmed so far.
