Sony has confirmed the PlayStation Plus free games lineup for June 2019.
We felt a little miffed when Sony removed PS Vita games from the PS Plus lineup. It was an understandable decision, but no amount of cloud storage could make up for the feeling that we’d lost a chunk of value.
March and April’s free games lineup didn’t help to assuage that feeling, but May’s was a huge improvement with What Remains of Edith Finch and Overcooked! giving subscribers two excellent games to experience. That good run continues with June’s free games.
First up is Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, a double-pack of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Borderlands 2. Both games have their moments, but it’s the second that is rightly remembered as the peak of the series. The PlayStation 4 versions include a nice visual upgrade, every piece of DLC, and the neat ability to transfer your old PS3 or PS Vita saves via the magic of something called ‘the cloud’.
June’s second game is Sonic Mania, a stunning return to form for Sega’s little hedgehog. The game sees the talents of Christian Whitehead, PagodaWest, and Headcannon take Sonic back to his roots in spectacular fashion.
Both titles are free to download from June 4, 2019.
