Pokémon Go is adding its first Mythical Pokémon, Mew, along with a new quest system which will allow players to go after it.
The way it works is that daily quests – activities like beating boss battles, catching Pokémon, and winning gym battles – will net Field Research.
After seven days’ worth of these daily quests, you will then unlock a Research Breakthrough, which will yield rewards like Rare Candy and TMs, as well as the chance to capture Legendary Pokémon.
Then, there are the Special Research tasks, doled out by Professor Willow: these sound as though they will give players a chance at capturing the Legendary Pokémon, Mew.
A post on the official Pokémon Go Blog reads:
“A series of mysterious happenings is occurring all over the world, and Professor Willow is seeking Trainers to help him find out if this is connected to the Mythical Pokémon Mew. These research tasks will become available to Trainers around the world later this week!”
The update is due out later this week.
