Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX remakes the GBA and DS dungeon crawlers.
During today’s Pokémon Direct, Game Freak announced that a pair of 2006 spin-offs are coming to Switch. Originally released on the Game Boy Advance and DS respectively, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team have been merged into one game and remade for the Switch.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX will launch on March 6. A demo is currently available on the Switch eShop. And, all progress made in the demo will be transferable to the full release.
The games cast players as a human with amnesia who wakes up trapped in a Pokémon’s body. You then join a “rescue team” to crawl through proc-gen dungeons, engaging in turn-based combat.
The remake has a winsome art style, with a watercolor palette and dark line art. I never played the games back in the day – they came out right as I was emerging from a lengthy childhood Pokémon obsession – but fans seem excited about this remake.
