The long-awaited remake of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time has changed developers at Ubisoft.
Ubisoft has confirmed that development of the Prince of Persia: Sand of Time remake has moved to Ubisoft Montreal.
The remake of the classic 2003 action-adventure was first announced in 2020, with Ubisoft’s Pune and Mumbai studios handling the project. Since then, the game has been subject to several delays. The most recent update came last June, when Ubisoft pushed the game to 2022.
In a tweet confirming the studio change, Ubisoft now says the game will be released “when it’s ready”.
“This decision is an important step and the team, building upon the work achieved by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, will now take the time they need to regroup on the scope of the game to deliver you the best experience for this remake of an all-time classic, when it’s ready.
The statement also thanks potential customers for their “continuous support and patience throughout the development”. However, from the comments we’ve seen online, it’s fair to say that support for the project hasn’t been particularly evident.
Despite the whining of those impatient dumdums, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is a genuine classic that deserves to be looked after. Hopefully, the studio change is in the game’s best interests.
