Two PlayStation Store Sales
Sony / Thumbsticks

Next-gen is here, but the PS4 library still has much to offer. Here’s news of two PlayStation Store sales to prove the point.

The PlayStation 5 begins its global rollout this week, and although there are plenty of great new games to play, two PSN sales are a timely reminder of the current generation’s quality.

First up is the PlayStation Indies sale, which features a torrent of imaginative, innovative and groundbreaking games. Among our favourites are Image & Form’s polished exploratory platformer SteamWorld Dig 2 and Tetsuya Mizuguchi’s immersive reinvention of a puzzle classic, Tetris Effect. Our pick of the lineup – and a game that is in contention for our best of the generation – is Lucas Pope’s masterful story of death and deduction, Return of the Obra Dinn.

Meanwhile, on the Planet of the Discounts, some of the generation’s biggest and best games – plus a bunch of remasters – get price cuts. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is one gem you might have overlooked, and Red Dead Redemption 2 is undoubtedly a modern classic, despite the troubling nature of its development.

Other picks from across both sales include Frostpunk, Hotshot Racing, The Last Campfire, and Steep.

Most of the titles on sale will run perfectly well on PlayStation 5, but it’s always worth reading the small print on the store page first. Visit the US sale page here and the European sale page here. Both promotions end on November 20 2020. Here are some more highlights.

We have a favour to ask

Thumbsticks has a couple of main aims. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won't, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. And right now, with the current state of online publishing? It's tough! We hate to ask, but if you want us to continue writing what others won't, or to keep covering weird indie games, or to be able to give opportunities to new writers – and only if you can afford it – then please consider supporting us on Patreon.
