Bluepoint’s stunning remake of Shadow of the Colossus enters the UK video games chart in first place.

What a difference 13 years makes. Shadow of the Colossus returns to the UK games chart with the PlayStation 4 exclusive achieving sales 73% greater than on its original PS2 release, according to figures from GfK Chart-Track.

As a result Monster Hunter World drops two places to number three, but is still performing well. EA’s UFC 3 stays put in second place.

Elsewhere, Call of Duty: WWII drops out of the top five for the first time since release, landing at six, and Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Origins leaps back into the top ten courtesy of retail discounting, moving up six places to number nine.

Nintendo’s Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Mario Odyssey hold steady at seven and eight.

Wide discounting brings also delivers a surprise re-entry for The Evil Within II, which squeaks back in the chart at ten.

You can see the full UK software chart for the week ending February 10, 2018 at the GFK Chart Track website.

We hate to ask, but...

Thumbsticks has a couple of goals. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won't, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. And right now, with the current state of online publishing? It's tough to meet those goals! We hate to ask, but if you want us to continue writing what others won't, or to keep covering weird indie games, or to be able to give opportunities to new writers – and only if you can afford it – then please consider supporting us on Patreon.
