Deep Silver and YS Net have confirmed the release date for Battle Rally, the first content expansion for Shenmue III.
The Battle Rally add-on will be released on January 21 and includes a number of new pursuits for Shenmue III. Here is how today’s press release describes the DLC:
“Battle Rally offers fresh gaming activities in a race unlike any other, as contestants engage in head to head battles whilst racing their way through the course.”
In a series first, players will also have the opportunity to step into the shoes of another playable character.
“In addition to playing the hero of our story Ryo Hazuki, players can also choose the treasure-seeking Wuying Ren and making her first appearance in this game, Ryo’s sparring partner, Wei Zhen.”
The Battle Rally DLC is released on January 21, 2020, for PlayStation 4 and PC. Owners of the Shenmue III Complete DLC Collection will see the add-on automatically on its release date.
We haven’t yet found time to play the game, and if we’re being brutally honest, we probably won’t. However, if you like the series, you’ll probably enjoy the latest instalment.

We hate to ask, but...
Thumbsticks has a couple of goals. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won't, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. And right now, with the current state of online publishing? It's tough to meet those goals! We hate to ask, but if you want us to continue writing what others won't, or to keep covering weird indie games, or to be able to give opportunities to new writers – and only if you can afford it – then please consider supporting us on Patreon.
