Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion is now included with Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.

Along with yesterday’s Splatoon 3 release date announcement, there was news of a welcome bonus for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members.

Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion is now available to Expansion Pack subscribers at no additional cost. It joins the add-ons for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons already included with Nintendo’s premium-tier online service. The DLC retails separately for $19.99 in the US.

Octo Expansion was released in 2018 and is a single-player campaign that puts players in the shoes of Agent 8, an amnesiac Octoling. Agent 8 must journey through a strange underground test facility and overcome a range of dangerous enemies and environments.

Essentially, it’s an excuse for Nintendo to flex its creative muscles across 80 delightfully inventive missions that blend Splatoon gameplay with everything from Portal to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Players who escape the facility are rewarded with an Octoling to use in the Splatoon 2‘s multiplayer modes.

Visit the game’s Nintendo eShop product page to download the add-on.

And in case you missed it, Nintendo has confirmed that Splatoon 3 will be released worldwide for Nintendo Switch on September 9, 2022. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 – which was previously slated for September – will now be released on July 29, 2022.
