Three new games are free to play for Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members.
Leading the pack is Blizzard Entertainment’s smash-hit multiplayer FPS, Overwatch. There’s a slight sense the game is beginning to have run its course as anticipation grows for the sequel, whenever that may come. Nonetheless, the player base is still healthy, and free play events like this continue to introduce new combatants to the battlefield.
Saints Row IV: Re-Elected isn’t one the best open-world games we’ve ever played. It’s rough around the edges – even in this updated Re-Elected release – and the franchise’s tone continues to be an acquired taste. There’s no escaping that it’s a silly and stupid and crass and vulgar game. But there’s also no denying that it’s a lot of fun. A perfect weekend getaway, in fact.
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is also free-to-play and remains one of the better Warhammer games of the bazillion available. Fatshark’s first-person actioner shines through its accomplished level design, varied characters, and satisfying moment-to-moment gameplay.
As always, any progress made and achievements earned will carry over to purchased copies.
