The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV is confirmed for release on Nintendo Switch in April.

NIS America has announced that Trails of Cold Steel IV will finally come to Nintendo Switch in spring. It will be released on April 9 in North America and Europe, and April 16 in Oceania.

The game was first released on PlayStation 4 in Japan in 2018 and received a Western localisation last October. A PC port is also in the works and due later this year. Xbox owners should arrange a dinner date between NIS America and Phil Spencer.

Nihon Falcom’s RPG follows the overall template set by its predecessor. It does, however, meaningfully update the combat mechanics, particularly its Order and Break systems. The game also features the largest roster of characters in the series to date.

The franchise is not to everyone’s taste, but Trails of Cold Steel IV was warmly received on PS4. If you are looking for a new 100+ hour JRPG to wallow in, this could be just the ticket.

In addition to a standard release, the game is also getting two special physical editions. The Frontline Edition includes a copy of the game, reversible cover art, a digital soundtrack download, and a Black Records art book. The Limited Edition adds a collector’s box, an Ashen Awakener SteelBook case, a cloth poster, and seven art cards.
