The four games in the collection provide a fascinating overview of a series that began as a rudimentary Super Mario Bros. clone before trailblazing an influential combination of action, adventure, platforming, and role-playing.

Sadly, the best game in the series – Wonder Boy III: The Dragon’s Trap (1989) – isn’t included in the collection. Luckily, it’s already available on console and PC in the shape of the fantastic remakeWonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap.

A release date for the collection – and full details of the physical editions – is expected soon.
