Inin Games and Strictly Limited Games have announced Wonder Boy Collection for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.
Wonder Boy Collection features four games from the beloved Wonder Boy and Monster World series’ and will be released digitally and as two limited-run physical editions.
The collection includes Wonder Boy (1986), Wonder Boy in Monster Land (1987), Wonder Boy in Monster World (1991), and Monster World IV (1994). All four games will benefit from the usual array of modern conveniences, including filters, shaders, rewind and fast forward options, and instant save states. A gallery featuring art from the series is an added bonus.
The four games in the collection provide a fascinating overview of a series that began as a rudimentary Super Mario Bros. clone before trailblazing an influential combination of action, adventure, platforming, and role-playing.
Sadly, the best game in the series – Wonder Boy III: The Dragon’s Trap (1989) – isn’t included in the collection. Luckily, it’s already available on console and PC in the shape of the fantastic remake, Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap.
A release date for the collection – and full details of the physical editions – is expected soon.
