Another month, another crop of games added to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One game subscription services. Here’s what you can play on PS Now and Game Pass in September 2020.

September’s PS Now lineup is headlined by Final Fantasy XV, the sprawling and ambitious RPG from Square Enix. The recent FFVII Remake is where most of the attention is at the moment, but FFXV is a trip well worth taking if you missed it first time round. It’s available to play until March 2021.

WWE2K19 isn’t the best wrestling game published by 2K, but in the absence of a 2020 entry, it should provide enough thrills for armchair wrestlers. We are also quite fond of Observation, the cool sci-fi thriller from No Code. Finally, Resident Evil VII is available for PS Now subscribers until the end of November. It’s a masterclass of horror game-making and gave the franchise a much-needed refresh on its 2017 release.

This month’s PS Now additions can be streamed or downloaded to PS4 consoles to play.

Resident Evil VII is also one of a slew of console and PC titles coming to Xbox Game Pass in September. Other highlights include Jackbox Party Pack 4, the continuation of Tell Me Why, and Destiny 2: Shadowkeep & Forsaken.

Leaving Game Pass this month are NBA 2K20Red Dead Redemption 2 on September 7, and Gonner and Jump Force on September 15.

We have a favour to ask

Thumbsticks has a couple of main aims. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won't, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. And right now, with the current state of online publishing? It's tough! We hate to ask, but if you want us to continue writing what others won't, or to keep covering weird indie games, or to be able to give opportunities to new writers – and only if you can afford it – then please consider supporting us on Patreon.
