The furry Xbox controllers are inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog. (And Knuckles.)
Do you know what generally seems like a bad idea? Combining a video game controller with a very plush shag pile carpet. Sweat, Dorito dust, Mountain Dew… it’s just going to get gross, isn’t it?
Still, that hasn’t stopped the Microsoft PR and licensing team from doing just that, producing a pair of furry Xbox controllers inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog. (And Knuckles.) This is from the group that brought you the infamous Xbox Series X|S Fridge and the Xbox Krispy Kreme doughnut, remember, so they’ve got form in weird tie-ins.
They probably wouldn’t sell very well – aside from the furry community, perhaps – but that’s OK because Microsoft isn’t planning to sell the Sonic (and Knuckles) furry Xbox controllers. Instead, they’re being given away as part of a competition to celebrate the second Sonic movie, featuring Jim Carrey, James Marsden, and, of course, Sonic the Hedgehog. (And Knuckles.)
If you really want the furry Xbox controllers, plus an Xbox Series S with a big gold ring on it – that wouldn’t look so terrible if it didn’t feature a naff decal of Sonic (and Knuckles) – then just retweet this tweet:
