New Xbox One releases

Outer Wilds and Layers of Fear 2 are among the new video games coming to the Xbox One between May 27-31, 2019.

This week’s roster of new Xbox One games is headlined by two titles that take players into the treacherous expanses of space.

First up is open world(s) exploration game, Outer Wilds. Mobius Digital’s adventure throws players into a continually repeating 20-minute cycle, with each play-through informing the next and allowing for gradual exploration of its ‘quirky and condensed galaxy.’

More intense exploits can be found with Blue Manchu’s highly anticipated strategy-shooter, Void Bastards. Inspired by BioShock and System Shock 2, the game tasks players with leading a band of misfit prisoners through a series of derelict and dangerous spaceships.

Both games also come to Xbox Game Pass day and date.

Other new releases include Bloober Team’s psychological horror sequel, Layers of Fear 2, and PixArk, the sandbox survival game from Snail Games.

All of this week’s games can be downloaded from the Xbox One digital store, or via the Microsoft online store. Here’s the full lineup.

We hate to ask, but...

Thumbsticks has a couple of goals. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won't, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. And right now, with the current state of online publishing? It's tough to meet those goals! We hate to ask, but if you want us to continue writing what others won't, or to keep covering weird indie games, or to be able to give opportunities to new writers – and only if you can afford it – then please consider supporting us on Patreon.
