Nintendo Switch exclusive Animal Crossing: New Horizons takes residence at the top of the UK video games chart with huge first-week sales.

The critically acclaimed Animal Crossing: New Horizons has topped the Ukie/GfK UK games chart in its first week. According to the game’s launch is 3.5 times bigger than 2012’s Animal Crossing: New Leaf on Nintendo 3DS, which went on to sell over 12 million copies.

Entering the chart at No. 2 is the reasonable return of Doomguy, sorry, Doom Slayer. Doom Eternal – which is available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 – posted slightly lower sales than the 2016 franchise reboot.

It’s worth noting that the chart only tracks physical software sales. When digital purchases are taken into account, sales of both games are likely to be much higher. Animal Crossing: New Horizons, for example, has been rooted to the top of the Nintendo eShop best-sellers list for some time,

The rest of the chart is full of familiar faces, with the likes of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Grand Theft Auto V, and Forza Horizon 4 all jostling for position.
