Another Sega classic is setting its sights on a Nintendo Switch release later this month.
G-LOC Air Battle is confirmed as the latest game to come to Nintendo Switch as part of the Sega Ages series. The game will take to the skies via the Nintendo eShop on April 30, 2020.
Sega’s 1990 fighter-plane dogfighting arcade game is a spin-off from the After Burner series. It’s designed by Yu Suzuki, whose work also includes Hang-On, Space Harrier, Out Run, and, of course, the Shenmue series.
M2 is once again behind the port which includes a range of new features. Although a hydraulic-powered arcade unit isn’t available, new screen options help recreate the feel of a moving cabinet display. You can also compete against your friends with online leaderboards, and the new AGES mode remixes the game with more enemies, missiles, and an improved lock-on system. A range of difficulty options also help to make the experience more acceptable to modern tastes.
Other games in the Sega Ages range include Virtua Racing, Out Run, Columns II, and Sonic the Hedgehog.
