EA Sports has announced that the Copa Libertadores is coming to FIFA 20 as a free content update.

CONMEBOL Libertadores is South America’s biggest football tournament, contested by clubs from Brazil, Argentina Uruguay, Perú, Paraguay, and Ecuador to name a few. EA Sports has confirmed that the tournament will be available as a free content update for FIFA 20 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in March 2020.

Unfortunately, it looks like the decent, but half-baked Nintendo Switch Legacy Edition will be left out.

The tournament will be available in a variety of FIFA 20 modes including FIFA Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Kick-Off, and an all-new CONMEBOL Libertadores Tournament Mode.

CONMEBOL commercial director, Juan Emilio Roa, is absolutlely thrilled with the news, saying:

“This alliance with EA, one of the largest video game companies, is a major step forward for the worldwide dissemination and image of South American football. Thanks to this agreement, our tournaments, clubs and players will have greater reach and recognition among the football fans who will have a whole new way to follow their heroes.”

EA’s FIFA franchise manager, Nick Wlodyka, adds:

“This new partnership with CONMEBOL bolsters our position as the deepest football experience available as we continue to build the most authentic sports video game for our fans.”
