Hey! Who knew? Diablo III is coming to the Nintendo Switch later this year.
After weeks of rumours – and yesterday’s unfortunately timed leak – Blizzard has officially confirmed that Diablo III Eternal Collection will be coming to the Nintendo Switch later this year.
The collection includes the base game, plus the Reaper of Souls expansion, and Rise of the Necromancer pack.
Apart from portable play, it’s the game’s multiplayer features that are most interesting. Up to four players can play on a single Nintendo Switch, or via multiple consoles linked together over WiFi. Online multiplayer will also be supported through the new Nintendo Switch Online subscription service.
Blizzard say that Diablo III Eternal Collection will run at 60fps docked and undocked, have a new custom control scheme for single Joy-Con play, and there will be exclusive Zelda-themed content in the shape of the Legend of Ganondorf cosmetic set, a Cucco companion pet, and a Triforce portrait frame.
Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment, said in a press statement:
“The Eternal Collection is the definitive version of Diablo III, and we’re thrilled to team up with Nintendo to unleash it for Nintendo Switch gamers around the world later this year,Bringing the world together through epic entertainment is core to our mission at Blizzard—we can’t wait to welcome a new generation of demon-slayers to Sanctuary.”
A release date for Diablo III Eternal Collection has yet to be confirmed, but the game will be playable at a number of upcoming events, including Gamescom, PAX West, and the Toronto Fan Expo
