EA has announced that Anthem, the online multiplayer action-RPG, will be released in March 2019.
EA CFO Blake Jorgensen was on a financial call last night, and stated that Anthem “will be shipped in the last quarter of the year and in the last month of that quarter.”
The game will release in the window that Mass Effect traditionally launches in. Jorgensen went on to state that EA is still cautious about the launch of a new IP. He added that there will likely be limited restocking of the game, “even if it’s extremely successful.
Jorgensen went on to discuss the company’s excitement for the game:
“We’re very excited about the game. It’s extremely unique, and I think players are going to really enjoy playing it, but we’re careful not to put too large of a forecast in there. And clearly, it will impact this year as well as next year as we not only continue to sell more into the next year but start rolling out the live services associated with that game.”
We expect to hear more about Anthem at this year’s E3.
