EA Sports has announced the two cover athletes for upcoming football videogame, FIFA 20.
The new cover stars for EA’s long-running football series are Real Madrid’s Eden Hazard and Liverpool FC’s Virgil van Dijk.
Hazard, who recently completed a move from London’s Chelsea FC, will grace the cover of the FIFA 20 Standard Edition. Virgil van Dijk adorns the box art for the FIFA 20 Champions Edition. The cover star for the Ultimate Edition has yet to be confirmed.
It will be interesting to see if the two players remain front and centre for the whole season. Earlier this year, Paulo Dybala, Kevin de Bruyne, and Neymar replaced Christiano Ronaldo on the cover of FIFA 19. EA said this was to mark the start of the Champions League knockout stages, but reports indicted that Ronaldo’s alleged activities off the field also played a part.

Speaking about the game, Eden Hazard says:
“EA Sports FIFA is the biggest Football game on the planet, and I have been playing it for years against my brothers. I am lucky to have been on the cover before but to be on FIFA 20 globally is amazing and I hope to excite as many gamers as I do when I take the field for Real Madrid this season!”
Virgil van Dijk is also excited.
“It is a huge honour for me to be on the cover of FIFA 20. I’ve been playing FIFA for as long as I can remember and so it’s an extremely proud moment for me to be representing Liverpool FC on the cover of such an iconic game.”
Along with a slew of modes and gameplay improvements, this year’s game also includes a new small-sided football experience called Volta Football.
FIFA 20 will be released worldwide for Xbox One, PlayStation4, PC, and Nintendo Switch on September 27, 2019. The Champions Edition will be released on September 24, 2019.
