Etrian Odyssey Nexus gets a new trailer, collector’s edition on the way

Dark Light

Nintendo 3DS RPG, Etrian Odyssey Nexus, gets a new trailer, and is now available to pre-order.

It’s not often that we get to report on a brand new Nintendo 3DS game these days, but the upcoming release of JRPG, Etrian Odyssey Nexus, on Nintendo’s ageing handheld console is certainly worth noting.

Atlus has confirmed that all pre-order and first-run copies of Etrian Odyssey Nexus, will come in a special Launch Edition. The retail release will contain a new book featuring art by Yuji Himukai and Shin Nagasawa, a pin depicting innkeeper Vivian, and collector’s box packaging.

Etrian Odyssey Nexus is the sixth mainline title in the series, and follows on from 2014’s Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth. Atlus promise that the game will include more classes, characters, gameplay systems, and labyrinths than any previous game in the franchise.

There are also some concessions to make this final outing on 3DS a little more accessible to newcomers, with four difficulty settings, auto-mapping settings, and a completely standalone story.

Here’s the new trailer.

The series has become a cult hit since its 2007 debut on the original Nintendo DS, and although many fans are eager for a new game on Switch – which will surely come – one last dual screen lap of honour seems hard to criticise.

Etrian Odyssey Nexus will be released for Nintendo 3DS on February 5, 2019.
