Two fantastic Switch indie games get limited run physical editions

Dark Light

Two of the best indie games on Nintendo Switch are getting limited edition physical releases from iam8bit.

We’ve been covering each week’s new Nintendo eShop releases for over six years. When we started, a mere handful of new games for the Nintendo Wii U and 3DS would arrive each Thursday. Now, with the success of the Nintendo Switch, the eShop receives more new games than we can keep up with. Many are shovelware, but there are plenty of gems, particularly from independent studios.

Two of our favourites – Ben Esposito’s Donut County and Jason Roberts’ Gorogoa – are now getting coveted physical releases on Nintendo Switch via Annapurna Interactive and specialist retailer iam8bit. Each title is getting a limited run of 5,000 copies, and are available to pre-order from tomorrow.

And there’s more. Donut County will also come with a Scratch-n-Sniff Trashopedia Sticker Collection, and Gorogoa will include new art from Jason Roberts plus a Traditions of the Scattered Path booklet. Both releases are region free and priced at USD $34.99. Pre-orders open on August 15, 2019, at 10am PDT.

If you miss out on the new physical editions, we still recommend grabbing both games on PC, mobile, or console. Gorogoa is a mind-bending, thought-provoking visual acrostic, and Donut County riffs on the likes of Katamari Damacy to explore themes of gentrification and displacement.

Video games. Aren’t they brilliant?
