Mario Tennis Aces gives the Switch another number one in the UK video games chart.
A good week for the Nintendo Switch sees Mario Tennis Aces take the No.1 spot in the latest UK video games Top 40 from GFK Chart Track. It’s an impressive debut for Mario’s latest sporting excursion in a game that has been well-received, and is a vast improvement on the likes of Mario Sports Superstars, and the Wii U’s Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash.
Elsewhere, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe jumps three places to No.4, and Super Mario Odyssey returns to the upper reaches of the chart by climbing from fourteenth to ninth.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild also surges, moving ten places to No.11, and there’s even a surprise entry for Flashback: Collector Edition on Switch, which debuts at No. 26. Also noteworthy is positive chart moment for Splatoon 2, and the Switch version of Minecraft.
Previous chart-toppers, God of War and FIFA 18, hold strong in second and third positions, and Detroit: Become Human maintains its top ten residence in sixth, followed by the ever-present Grand Theft Auto V.
Last week’s No.8, Vampyr, drops ten places to No.18, and Dark Souls Remastered stays rooted to the lower end of the chart, holding firm at No.37.

We have a favour to ask
Thumbsticks has a couple of main aims. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won't, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. But it's hard to do that in the current financial climate. If you'd like to help us fund these aims, you could always buy the team a cup of coffee.
