Marvel’s Avengers retains its place at the top of the UK video games chart.
The Square Enix-published Marvel’s Avengers is at No.1 for a second week in the latest GFK chart of physical retail sales in the UK. Last week’s No.2 – the excellent Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 – also holds its position in its second week on sale.
NBA 2K21 falls five places, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons moves up one position. Squeezing in amongst the shuffle is THQ Nordic’s Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning, which performs surprisingly well by debuting at No.4. The physical release of Minecraft Dungeons also charts high, entering the top ten at No.6.
Elsewhere, the recent buzz – and fuss – surrounding the 35th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. has had a positive effect on Switch games starring Nintendo’s mascot. Of the seven titles in the top forty featuring Mario, five of them – including Super Mario Odyssey and Super Mario Party – have climbed the chart.
