Like surviving? Like zombies? Like providing valuable online gameplay feedback to video game publishers? If so, the Metal Gear Survive beta is just for you.

Konami have released the open beta for Metal Gear Survive on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. From today, through to January 21, 2018, players can experience new features in the game’s co-op mode, plus new missions and live events.

Metal Gear Survive has been the subject of much ridicule since it was first revealed amid the fallout of Hideo Kojima’s acrimonious split from Konami. However, as the its release date fast approaches, the tide appears to be turning. Early reports have struck a positive tone, and it’s quite possible the game isn’t the complete disaster many expected.

The beta features two maps with three missions for co-op mode. Beta participants will also receive three in-game bonus items for their trouble. These can be unlocked upon release of the final game.

Metal Gear Survive Beta Rewards

  • 1 x Fox Hound name plate
  • 1 x Metal Gear Rex head accessory
  • 1 x bandana accessory

Konami has also released a new batch of – frankly uninspiring – screenshots:

Talk about drab.

Metal Gear Survive will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One on February 20th, and PC via Steam on 22nd February 2018.
