Microsoft reveals the new Xbox Wireless Controller ‘Sport White Special Edition’.

It’s been a while since we last reported on a special edition Xbox controller. We absolutely love the colourful creations made possible by the Xbox Design Lab – and also remain fond of the red variant – but some of the monstrosities released as part of last year’s Tech Series caused considerable eye pain around the Thumbsticks office.

So we’re pleased to say that the new ‘Sport White Special Edition’ is a stunning return to form. It’s a really smart design with a mint accent deliberately designed to match your, erm, gym kit.

The new controller – which is the first in a new sports range – also features grey and silver patterns, discreet colour indicators on the ABXY buttons, and a grey rubberised grip on its backside.

The ‘Sport White Special Edition’ controller will be available to pre-order from the Microsoft Store, and other retailers in the United States and Canada, from July 31, 2018. It will be released worldwide from August 7, 2018.

The controller has a recommended U.S. retail price of $69.99, and also comes bundled with two-week trials for Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass.

An officially licenced Xbox Pro Charging Stand from Controller Gear will also be available in the same colour scheme. It includes a rechargeable battery, a six-foot power cable, and is priced at $49.99.

Now, where’s my gym kit.

We hate to ask, but...

Thumbsticks has a couple of goals. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won't, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. And right now, with the current state of online publishing? It's tough to meet those goals! We hate to ask, but if you want us to continue writing what others won't, or to keep covering weird indie games, or to be able to give opportunities to new writers – and only if you can afford it – then please consider supporting us on Patreon.
