A bunch of new Pokémon games are confirmed for Nintendo Switch

Dark Light

The Nintendo Switch isn’t going to be short of new Pokémon games, and the first one is available right now.

At a press event held in Japan today, The Pokémon Company revealed details of a slew of new Pokémon games for the Nintendo Switch. One we knew about, one we’d heard rumours about, and one that was a complete surprise.

Pokemon Quest

Pokémon Quest is available on the Nintendo Switch right now, and is coming to mobile at the end June. The game is free to start, and involves battling wild Pokémon and finding hidden treasure on the island of Tumblecube. The game features blocky versions of Pokémon that can be customised and fed by players using a touch screen.

Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee

Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee will be released on November 16, 2018. The game is based on Pokémon Yellow, but also heavily influenced by mobile sensation, Pokémon Go.This is most evident in how the game uses a single Joy Con and motion gestures to catch Pokémon.

The game is set in the Kanto region, and features the original roster of 151 Pokémon, plus a selection from the Sun and Moon’s Alola region, and some unannounced new Pokémon.

Players can also transfer the original 151 Pokémon from Pokémon Go to Let’s Go Pikachu or Eevee using bluetooth. The best feature, however, looks to be drop in, drop out co-op.

And, of course, there’s a new piece of plastic to buy. A Poké Ball-shaped controller called the Poké Ball Plus will be released to support the game.
