Doom Eternal and Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 headline this week’s lineup of new Nintendo Switch eShop releases.
Doom (2016) was one of the first titles to demonstrate that – with a nip and a tuck – it’s possible to bring PlayStation 4-level games to Nintendo’s multipurpose console. Doom Eternal is Panic Button’s most ambitious port yet, but the studio has an excellent track record, so there’s reason to be positive. Admittedly, we aren’t huge fans of the game – you can read Tom’s review here – but we’re still intrigued to see how id Software’s hell-raising shooter performs.
Another sequel dropping onto Nintendo Switch this week is Puyo Puyo Tetris 2. If it’s anything like the first game, this puzzle mash-up should be lots of fun. New modes and enhanced online options are among the additions, but we’re not sure that’s enough to make a second instalment worth the price of entry.
And there are even more sequels. Drawn to Life: Two Realms is a successor to the 2007 Nintendo DS action-platformer, and PixelJunk Eden 2 is a follow-up to Q-Games’ 2008 psychedelic platformer. Both look promising.
Other new releases include Autumn’s Journey, Lofi Ping Pong, and the delayed Ghostrunner. Here’s the full list of this week’s Nintendo eShop releases. We’ll update this post throughout the week with any late arrivals.

We have a favour to ask
Thumbsticks has a couple of main aims. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won't, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. And right now, with the current state of online publishing? It's tough! We hate to ask, but if you want us to continue writing what others won't, or to keep covering weird indie games, or to be able to give opportunities to new writers – and only if you can afford it – then please consider supporting us on Patreon.
