Final Fantasy VIII, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, and Creature in the Well headline the list of new video games coming to the Nintendo Switch eShop.
The long-awaited reissue of Final Fantasy VIII headlines this week’s roster of new Nintendo eShop releases. It’s not a ground-up remake, but a new fast-forward mode and updated graphics give the game a much-appreciated refresh. Or do they?
Another older game getting an outing on Switch is the classic 2012 dungeon-crawling RPG, Torchlight II. Porting hotshots Panic Button has given the game an improved UI and targeting system. It’s definitely one for fans of Diablo III and the like.
The big new indie release of the week is Flight School Studio’s Creature in the Well. The game blends top-down dungeon crawling, pinball-inspired combat, and some stunning visuals inspired by the work of artist, Mike Mignola.
Other new Nintendo Switch games include NBA 2K20, River City Girls, Gurgamoth, and Activision’s Spyro Reignited Trilogy. Here’s the full lineup, check back throughout the week for any last-minute additions.
Update: September 5, 2019. This list has been updated with the new games announced on this week’s Nintendo Direct and with the first batch of SNES games available to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers.

We hate to ask, but...
Thumbsticks has a couple of goals. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won't, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. And right now, with the current state of online publishing? It's tough to meet those goals! We hate to ask, but if you want us to continue writing what others won't, or to keep covering weird indie games, or to be able to give opportunities to new writers – and only if you can afford it – then please consider supporting us on Patreon.
