The return of Shenmue headlines next week’s lineup of new PlayStation 4 releases.
Well, it’s here. After an 18-year wait, Yu Suzuki returns with a new game in the beloved Shenmue series. Unlike Hideo Kojima’s divisive Death Stranding, we have a feeling Shenmue III will be somewhat critic-proof. Our experience suggests it’s a Shenmue game through and through, for better or worse. We think fans will be happy enough.
That game aside, it’s a relatively quiet week on the PlayStation 4. The long-awaited port of Sid Meier’s Civilization VI is a welcome release for empire-building strategy enthusiasts. Fans of the Netflix series Narcos: Rise of the Cartels can also play out their favourite moments form the first season in a new action-strategy game from Kuju.
The other big game of the week is Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts from CI Games. This time around the franchise employs a contracts-based system for a new tactical sandbox FPS set in Siberia.
Other new games include Lost Ember and a new version of rhythm game, Deemo that includes PSVR support.
Here’s the full lineup of next week’s new PS4 new releases.
