Pokémon Go will celebrate its past with a new event centred on Kanto Pokémon.

The region was host to the original Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow, with 151 monsters to catch.

Starting tomorrow, the event will run from the 11th to the 18th of April, and will spawn the original 151 Pokes in much greater numbers.

The three starter Pokémon, Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle will be particularly numerous.

Other Gen 1 Pokes like Snorlax and Aerodactyl will pop up in raids – where they can be fought and caught.

To top it all off, you’ll receive double candy for catching and transferring Pokémon.

This comes soon after the new quest system was added to the game. The system includes quest for players to obtain the mythical Pokémon Mew.

One of the caveats is that players will need the Gold Kanto Badge to complete the new quest. The badge is unlocked by registering 100 Kanto critters. This event will help players who haven’t yet unlocked the Kanto badge.
