Dark Light

Reigns: Game of Thrones, the third game in Nerial’s series of majestic swipe ’em ups, is out today.

The new game is the follow-up to the award-wining Reigns, and Reigns: Her Majesty, and includes characters and events from the HBO adaptation of George R. R. Martin’s Game of Thrones series.

The game lets players take control of one of the reigns of Westeros, starting with Daenerys Targaryen, and with characters including Cersei Lannister, Tyrion Lannister, Jon Snow, and Sansa Stark all unlockable.

The Tinder-like swiping mechanics allows you to play out alternate futures through a series of binary choices. Each decision has an impact on your state’s military strength, monetary wealth, religious favour, as well as your domestic popularity.

Reigns: Game of Thrones

It’s not a game that takes Games of Thrones lore too seriously – player created timelines are considered visions by Melisandre – but it’s one that should capture the intrigue and power plays of the source material. In fact, there’s every chance it will be the best Game of Thrones video game released to date,

Reigns: Game of Thrones is available today via the Apple App Store, Google Play, Steam, and GOG, and is priced at $3.99/£2.99. A compilation of the the first two games, Reigns: Kings & Queens, was recently released for the Nintendo Switch.
